A story I wrote out of boredom
The incompetence of Moris
Humprey “Bless” Babas
This tale to be told is about a woman, who is fantasized by all the men in the world. She is Billen daughter of Moris and Maria. Her tale begins with the day that her parents made a bargain with a witch, and that bargain was to save Billen’s life with the exchange for her father’s hand in marriage. The witch was cruel, alone and hated by all the townspeople, and has not had anyone to accompany her for the rest of her life, which is why she asked for her father’s marriage in exchange for her Billen’s life. Moris agreed thinking that he could doge the deal once Billen was born.
On the night that Billen was born, the witch came to their house asking for Moris, Moris shouted in a loud and demanding voice “Leave witch, do you think I would comply to your foolish demand, leave before I burn you to hell”. The witch left, but not before putting a cruse on Billen. “For your incompetence Moris, Your daughter Billen, be offered beauty and grace more than the Gods, shall suffer a life filled with loneliness and misery as of mine, she will be surrounded by men from all over the earth yet there will be no man who will love her, she will live as a vision of Lust and nothing else, she will die alone as will I”. What the witch said struck fear to the hearts of Moris and Maria. Moris, as pale as the moon that night fainted with fear, and Maria, willingly holding Billen in her arms kept shouting, “Lord help us, do not let my daughter bare this curse”.
16 years had passed after Billen’s birth and just as the witch said, Billen beheld a beauty far greater than Aphrodite herself. Suitors from all around the earth came for Billen. Men, tall and short, Rich and Poor, Gifted and Not and even a few women came seeking for Billen, and yet, as the witch has said the men only see the vision of lust when they look at her.
When Billen was growing up she had a friend, a boy pure of heart and a mind of gold, his name was Bless. A simple farm boy who helped around his father’s farm and the local church. Bless’ amazing ability to show his compassion to people overwhelmed Billen. And it is in that compassion that Billen had fallen for Bless. Yet, Bless has no intention for falling in love with Billen.
